Many have been wondering if AMD will introduce their latest graphics technology soon, and recently, there have been several reports that somewhat confirm when graphics cards with their latest RDNA 5 graphics processing chip will be launched.
According to a number of AMD component development partners, graphics cards with RDNA 5 graphics chips are expected to arrive by the end of 2027. The graphics processing chip is expected to be introduced in the second or third quarter of 2027, but some of the graphics card models will only start selling in early 2028.
AMD launched the AMD Radeon RX 9000 series of graphics cards with RDNA 4 graphics chips in early 2025, and it is a mid-range and affordable graphics card offering, and does not compete with NVIDIA's offerings such as the GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. So far it is still unknown if AMD will use the same strategy of offering only mid-range graphics cards, or will show a new offering that will compete with all classes of graphics cards from premium to affordable.
Interestingly, NVIDIA is also expected to show their graphics card offerings around the same time, and what is certain is that NVIDIA will dominate most of the graphics card market, especially premium class graphics cards due to the lack of competition in that class.
