Qualcomm Dragonfly C1000 Processor Chips to Power Meta’s Future Data Centers

Qualcomm and Meta today announced a future partnership, where Qualcomm’s data center processor chip offering, called the Qualcomm Dragonfly C1000, will power Meta’s future data centers.

According to a statement issued by Qualcomm, this data center processor chip offering will begin mass production by 2028. This series of processor chips is said to come with a great processing power offering, but with efficient power consumption. suitable for use by companies like Meta, which are seen to scale their data processing and artificial intelligence capabilities to a larger scale in the future.

Cristiano Amon, Qualcomm CEO said that they have designed the Dragonfly C1000 data center CPU to provide the best performance on each core and have demonstrated breakthroughs in power efficiency for large-scale data center deployments. This multi-generation agreement with Meta is an important validation of this approach.

The announcement is seen as the next step in Qualcomm's latest phase of trying to diversify its revenue streams by entering the data center and automotive component sectors, and not relying too heavily on the smart device chip business.

We have also previously reported that Qualcomm is in talks to acquire AI chip startup Modular Inc, and to create custom chips for ByteDance's data center use.
