All Samsung Electronics employees in South Korea and all Device eXperience (DX) employees worldwide will have access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex. The announcement made today makes Samsung Electronics one of the largest enterprise customers in OpenAI’s history.
Samsung will use ChatGPT and Codex for software development, research & development, manufacturing, marketing, product development, and support other corporate functions. ChatGPT’s artificial intelligence (AI) can perform tasks such as information retrieval, document drafting, ideation, data analysis, and data interpretation.
Unlike regular ChatGPT, ChatGPT Enterprise offers data protection, access management, and security controls that comply with Samsung’s internal policies to allow for the safe use of AI within the company’s systems.
Three years ago, Samsung partnered with Naver to develop its own AI for use by its device solutions (DS) and DX employees. This was because employees were not allowed to use AI from the outside due to Samsung’s secrets being leaked after DX employees used ChatGPT.
