Sony PlayStation 5 video game consoles typically come with built-in SSD storage that is not very large, except for the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro console that comes with 2TB of storage. But what if you need a much larger amount of storage than the existing offering?
SanDisk has recently introduced their latest SSD storage, the SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850P which is built specifically for the Sony PlayStation 5 and Sony PlayStation 5 Pro game consoles. It is a rebranding of the previous WD_Black storage series under the Western Digital brand which has now shifted to producing hard disk storage only.
In fact, if you follow the name of the new model shown, the Optimus GX Pro 850P model is seen to resemble the name of the WD_Black SN850X model. In terms of storage size offerings, this SSD series comes with 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB options. This SSD storage comes with a data read and write speed of 7,300MB/s and 6,300MB/s and comes with a built-in cooling block to help dissipate heat from the storage chip components built into this SSD.
SanDisk has also shown the price tag of this SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850P SSD storage, and depending on the storage size option, the price tag is seen as quite unreasonable because even in USD currency, the price of the 8TB storage option is many times higher than a Sony PlayStation 5 Pro console. It is currently shown for a few select markets, and it is not yet known when it will enter the local market.
SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850P (1TB) – $379.00 (~RM1560)
SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850P (2TB) – $759 (~RM3116)
SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850P (4TB) – $1499 (~RM6155)
SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850P (8TB) – $2595 (~RM12,154)
