The United States government has now ordered Anthropic to close access to their latest models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, to all non-US users. The US government is said to be citing national security concerns in granting access.
This has made Anthropic immediately close access to the models to all their users. For now, other models are not affected by this government order. In addition to users, the new US government order also says that the latest model cannot be accessed by Anthropic employees who are not US citizens.
Anthropic said that the US government did not provide any further information regarding what is meant by national security through the access offer. Anthropic also stated that the government should have the option to block any dangerous and unsafe offers, but the process should depend on accurate, clear, and transparent technical facts in the order. However, this latest government move is said to not go through or follow the said principles.
