If previously only images could be sent once, text messages will also have the same function. According to the latest update from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a ‘View Once’ feature specifically for text messages.
Through it, users will be given the ‘View Once’ option for text messages. This means that after typing a message in the chat room, they can activate the function by long-pressing the send button. This action will then display a new options menu, where users can select ‘Send as view once’ to set the message. Once sent, the recipient can only open the message once before it is no longer accessible.
Text messages sent using the ‘View Once’ option will be protected with the same level of privacy as other media. The recipient cannot copy, forward or share the message after receiving it. In addition, WhatsApp will block screenshots and screen recordings to add additional protection, thus ensuring that the message cannot be saved or redistributed in any form.
This feature is still under development and its launch date has not been confirmed.
