WhatsApp is testing the Side Chat feature, a new way to get Meta AI help privately in the context of a conversation without compromising privacy. Therefore, users can ask Meta AI privately through a separate panel.
The difference with the previous Incognito Chat is that Incognito Chat allows the conversation to disappear after closing but cannot access the chat context. On the other hand, Side Chat can use the context from the main chat to provide assistance while still maintaining the same level of privacy.
In addition, this feature works through the support of Private Processing, which is a security system that allows AI functions to be carried out without revealing messages to Meta or other parties. In fact, Meta also claimed in its statement on the WABetaInfo site that this system meets strong security standards as confirmed by several international cybersecurity firms involved.
It is also easy to use because in the conversation there is an Ask Privately option, then the Side Chat panel will open with a dark interface similar to Incognito Chat. In addition, its uses include summarizing the latest messages in text, providing help writing new messages, and providing explanations for messages that are not understood.
Side Chat also supports secure web searches without associating queries with user accounts. This feature is currently only available to a small number of users and will be expanded to more accounts in the coming weeks.
