Primate Labs, the developer behind the GeekBench benchmark software, has recently introduced their latest Geekbench 7 benchmark software, which comes with an update specifically for testing devices running various operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, iOS and Android.
Geekbench 7 features an update in terms of how their multi-core tests are performed. Previously, all tests were the same, with the only difference being whether they would use one or all cores on a CPU. With this update, some tests such as web browsing and HTML5 will only be performed for single-core tests, and will no longer be shown in multi-core tests.
Meanwhile, Geekbench 7 will also introduce several new benchmark tests, such as the ability to process video using the AV1 codec, the use of the Opus audio codec and real-time subtitle generation using the Whisper artificial intelligence system from OpenAI.
A new Physics video game benchmark has also been introduced, and this test will show the CPU's ability to process objects that the player can interact with in-game, while the GPU benchmark has also been updated to focus on computer games with modern engines and digital content creation in various aspects.
Geekbench 7 is seen as a computer and smart device benchmark that focuses on the real-world capabilities of the CPU and GPU components used, rather than simply chasing high scores.
Geekbench 7 is free to use for regular users, and can be purchased for those who want to use this benchmarking software for more in-depth benchmarking details.
