Twenty-two years ago, I bought a new graphics card to play Half Life 2. The Source engine required a state-of-the-art graphics card to display graphics that in 2004 were the most realistic ever produced. But after almost a quarter of a century, Half Life 2 can now be played directly from a web browser alone.
This project developed by Slqnt and 98006 only requires a web browser without the game installed on the computer first using WebGL 2. However, a computer with a graphics card is still required to run this game on a modern computer. In addition to HL2, HL2 Episode 1 and HL2 Episode 2 can also be played.
Based on my own experience a moment ago, the graphics quality is average but the game, frame rate and audio are quite choppy on my MacBook. On Android the game can be run but there is no touch screen support. A keyboard and mouse are still required. To try HL2 yourself in a web browser, please go to the link below.
