Nintendo Switch 2 May Feature OLED Screen Update in 2028

The Nintendo Switch 2 gaming console was just launched earlier this year, and the reception has been quite encouraging, offering more powerful processing power, and also allowing game developers to offer more different types of video games.

However, there are some Nintendo fans who are waiting for the new model to arrive, especially with the OLED screen display offering brighter and more beautiful color reproduction. Recently, there are rumors that Nintendo will introduce the updated offering in early 2028.

This was reported by ZDNet Korea, which said that Nintendo is currently in the process of developing a console with the screen panel, which will also reportedly use Samsung Display for the OLED screen display, similar to what was used for the previous Nintendo Switch OLED console.

Not only that, the OLED display for the Nintendo Switch 2 “OLED” will come with a larger resolution, namely 1920×1080, a far cry from the 1280×720 resolution shown through the Nintendo Switch OLED console.

ZDNet also expects that once Nintendo has agreed with Samsung to introduce the console update, production of the OLED screen display for the Switch 2 could be ready to begin as early as the end of this year, where the Switch 2 OLED console could be introduced in late 2027 or early 2028.
