Nothing has denied reports that it is exiting 12 global markets due to reduced production due to the RAM crisis and financial pressures. In a statement released on X, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis said that the company is simply restructuring to prepare for its next phase of growth. Among the newly established is a native artificial intelligence business unit.
He did, however, confirm that the company has made some staff cuts due to the restructuring. The reported closures in several countries are simply a process of moving operations to regional hubs to make them more efficient.
In the original Digit.it report, Nothing was said to be laying off up to 40% of its global workforce, with some units seeing up to 50% reductions in staff. Despite Evangelidis’ denial, Digit.it stands by their report that Nothing is withdrawing from 12 global markets.
So far, CMF by Nothing has confirmed that it will not be launching a new phone due to a lack of RAM supply. The newly launched Nothing Phone (4b) is only offered with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in all markets except India. With RAM supplies increasingly tight, only time will tell whether these rumors are actually just waiting to become reality.
