Rumor: Oppo Allegedly Ending Development of OxygenOS and Realme UI

OxygenOS and Realme UI are reportedly about to be discontinued. This is expected to raise big questions among users as many want to know the next direction.

The rumor that is currently going viral has stolen attention when it says that Oppo is planning a major strategy to fully integrate OnePlus and Realme into the Oppo ecosystem, as well as using ColorOS as the single Android system for all new phones.

In this strategy, OnePlus will focus on the Indian and Chinese markets, while Realme will cease operations in China and focus on overseas markets. In India, OnePlus service centers have also been merged into Oppo's service network.

This move is said to have been made because supporting 3 different operating systems, namely ColorOS, OxygenOS and Realme UI, requires large R&D costs. In fact, since 2021, Oppo has started merging the base code of OxygenOS with ColorOS. Therefore, this rumor is seen as a continuation of a long-planned plan.

If true, this move will mark the end of the OxygenOS era, which was once considered the best Android standard, and pave the way for a full integration of the Oppo ecosystem. In fact, signs of the integration have actually been visible recently, especially when Oppo products began to be promoted on the official OnePlus website in several European countries.

For Realme users, the impact may not be so great because the Realme UI is indeed based on ColorOS. This shows that Oppo's integration strategy does not only involve software but also includes marketing and distribution aspects.
