WhatsApp Starts Testing Special Labels for Paid Content in Channels

WhatsApp has started testing a new feature, the “Paid Partnership” label, for channel admins. Through this label, admins can mark updates that are paid or the result of commercial partnerships.

With the Paid Partnership label, followers can clearly identify advertising content and will not consider it as the personal opinion of the channel admin. In addition, this feature helps build trust between followers and admins because every commercial partnership is openly shown. At the same time, this label ensures that channel admins comply with the law that requires the disclosure of paid content and avoid the risk of bad reputation due to being considered to hide ads.

In terms of use, channel admins only need to long press on the channel update and select the “Add paid partnership” option. After that, the label will appear clearly on the update and cannot be removed. Therefore, every paid content will be officially marked to ensure transparency. This feature is being tested in stages for Android and iOS users through the updated WhatsApp application.
