Apple Music will also start showing labels on music created with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). According to the Hollywood Reporter, Apple has started contacting music production companies and distributors to use AI Transparency Tags on content generated using AI.
AI Transparency Tags were introduced last March but have not been enforced by Apple Music. Apple Music says AI-generated music labels will be displayed in the app by the end of the year without a final date given. These AI-generated labels are similar to the labels used on music with content that is only suitable for listening to adults.
With this, Apple Music and Spotify have started showing labels on AI-generated music that is increasingly flooding various major audio streaming platforms. Apple has not said how their system will be enforced and what will happen to AI music that is not labeled.
On Spotify, non-human musician profiles – AI Personas – have just been launched. All AI-generated music will not receive recommendations by algorithms or human workers. Songs will only appear if manually searched for by Spotify users.
