Huawei is reportedly set to launch a 16:10 widescreen phone next month. This will be a regular smartphone and not a foldable device like the previously launched Pura X. It is believed to be equipped with a 6.3″ screen and is a flagship device.
It will be the first widescreen device that is not a foldable screen to hit the market. It simply follows the popularity trend of the Pura X and Galaxy Z Fold8 which proved that there is a demand for widescreen devices. With a design like this, the device is easier to use with one hand than devices with traditional elongated screens.
Apart from Huawei, Honor, Oppo and Xiaomi are also reported to be developing their own 16:10 screen devices. Oppo, for example, is predicted to launch their widescreen device in early 2027. After using the Z Fold8 for two weeks, I can say that the 16:10 screen is indeed more comfortable to use but causes some content to be cut off at the top due to the shorter screen.
