Meta is currently a leader in the smart glasses market, offering several different models. Its existing smart glasses feature built-in cameras, allowing users to capture photos and videos.
However, amidst various privacy concerns, Meta is reportedly considering a new pair of smart glasses that do not include a camera. These glasses would feature up to six microphones and speakers, making it easy for users to interact with Meta AI and receive feedback. The absence of a camera would make it difficult to capture photos or videos, or to use artificial intelligence to identify the user's surroundings.
Nevertheless, this approach would resolve privacy issues and overcome location-based restrictions often imposed on camera-equipped smart glasses.
Meta is expected to unveil these new smart glasses at the Meta Connect event later this September.
