Microsoft has just announced that the Microsoft Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 13 series have been updated with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus processor option—a more affordable laptop chip compared to the Snapdragon X2 Elite.
Interestingly, this update goes beyond just the processor; both models now feature brighter displays (500 nits) and improved battery life. The Surface Pro 12 offers up to 12.5 hours of usage, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop 13 delivers up to 22.5 hours on a full charge.
Regarding internal specifications, the Snapdragon X2 Plus chip features 6 cores, with memory options of 16GB or 24GB LPDDR5X and SSD storage options of 256GB or 512GB, depending on the chosen configuration. Other features, such as I/O ports and wireless connectivity, remain unchanged from previous versions.
In terms of color options, both models retain the existing Platinum and Violet choices while introducing a new Black color variant. Microsoft stated that the Microsoft Surface Pro 12 ($1,149) and Microsoft Surface Laptop 13 ($1,119) powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus chip will go on sale starting October 13, 2026, in selected markets.
