The government previously launched AI Malaysia Berhad, an agency under the Ministry of Digital focused on coordinating the national AI agenda, promoting the safe and responsible adoption of AI, and driving the National AI Action Plan 2026–2030.
AI Malaysia Berhad will also spearhead efforts to ensure Malaysia becomes an AI-enabled nation by 2030.
The appointed Board members represent a mix of the public and private sectors. Aireen Omar, currently a Board member of Tune Protect Group Berhad and an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of AI Malaysia Berhad.
Other appointees to the Board include Datuk Fabian Bigar (Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital), Ma Sivanesan (Deputy Secretary-General, Ministry of Digital), Muhammad Afhzal (Chief Digital Technology Officer, EPF), and Foo Yen Ling Adelene (Chairperson of Trendcell and Director of MyTeksi).
