Traveling to China can feel like a trip to Mars, as the country is entirely cashless—to the point where even beggars use QR codes to accept donations. The challenge, however, is that China's cashless system does not fully support foreign credit cards, debit cards, or digital wallets. To facilitate payments for tourists moving forward, Tencent has launched the TenPayGo app.
TenPayGo supports seven major card networks: Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, American Express, Japan Credit Bureau (JCB), Diners Club, and Discover Global Network. It also supports 34 digital wallets, such as S Pay, Boost, Naver Pay, and many others. Payments via Apple Pay are also supported.
The app was launched to assist visitors attending the APEC summit in Shenzhen, allowing tourists and visitors to utilize their existing cards and digital wallets.
