With iOS 27, the iPhone Handoff feature is being introduced, enabling two iPhones to share the same eSIM. This allows cellular services—including phone calls and internet connectivity—to be used on both phones simultaneously. It is particularly useful for users who do not wish to subscribe to two separate cellular plans.
Following yesterday's launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Duo, Apple published an information page regarding iPhone Handoff; it appears that a monthly subscription with a participating eSIM carrier is still required. Currently, the feature is supported only by T-Mobile in the United States and Telekom in Germany.
T-Mobile charges an additional $5 per month for the Handoff service. In Malaysia, there is no information yet regarding which telecommunications companies will support it or what the associated costs might be. From a business perspective, the feature represents a potential loss for telcos, as they would lose out on a separate subscription.
