Apple Acknowledges Screen Issues Affecting a Small Number of iPhone Duo Users

Since the launch of the iPhone Duo late last week, a small number of users have reported that their foldable phones are experiencing screen damage. In response, Apple has issued an official statement to Bloomberg.

Apple acknowledges the screen issue, noting that it affects only a small number of units and is limited to the internal screen of the iPhone Duo. The company advises affected users to contact AppleCare for a replacement. Apple further stated that the vast majority of iPhone Duo units are unaffected, and that when the issue does occur, the damage becomes apparent immediately.

Some users reported damage after normal use—specifically, after opening and closing the device. Only the internal screen appears to be affected; users can still utilize the device's external screen.

This situation certainly does not reflect well on Apple, especially given the long time it took for the company to introduce its foldable phone. Apple has not specified the cause of the issue. iFixit suggests that the problem may stem from the device's hinge mechanism damaging the screen, rather than a defect in the screen itself.
