BlackBerry Sees Bright Prospects in the Robotics and AI Sectors

Since the heyday of its smartphones, BlackBerry has invested heavily in its QNX operating system. Widely used in the automotive industry, QNX now presents a promising opportunity for BlackBerry to expand beyond the automotive sphere into the robotics and AI sectors.

Today, BlackBerry’s software and operating system offerings are prevalent across the automotive and healthcare industries, as well as within government and supply chain sectors. A key feature frequently highlighted is the platform's robust security support. In fact, BlackBerry operates a regional security hub in Malaysia and collaborates with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Given the advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence, BlackBerry is well-positioned to develop and offer products and services—particularly those centered on secure systems. Furthermore, BlackBerry’s long-standing partnership with NVIDIA simplifies the integration process for developers, giving it an edge over competitors.

Nevertheless, it may take some time for BlackBerry to return to the valuation it enjoyed during its peak. Around 2008, the company was valued at approximately $85 billion, whereas today, it trades at a valuation of around $5.4 billion.
