Ticket prices for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) service were announced today by Malaysia Rail Link (MRL). A one-way, end-to-end journey from Gombak (Selangor) to Kota Bharu (Kelantan) starts at RM125 for economy class. Fares for several other destinations, such as KotaSAS (Pahang) and Kuala Terengganu, were also announced.

In its initial phase, the ECRL will offer approximately 2.2 million seats throughout 2027, with 12 daily trips scheduled from Monday to Thursday, and 16 daily trips from Friday to Sunday. A journey from Gombak to Kota Bharu will take only 4 hours via the express service, compared to the current 6.5-hour travel time by car.
The ECRL will also provide a 50% discount on economy class tickets for children aged 2–12, holders of a Persons with Disabilities (OKU) card, senior citizens aged 60 and above, and government retirees.
Additionally, a 40% discount is available for students aged 13 to 24. The ECRL service is scheduled to begin operations in January 2027, serving as an alternative public transport system for residents of the East Coast—particularly during festive seasons, when travel times can often exceed 12 hours due to heavy traffic congestion.
