Google has announced that it will expand the display of advertisements within its "AI Mode" feature to several countries, including Malaysia.
AI Mode is a feature within Google Search that allows users to ask questions and receive direct answers before any web links are displayed. Google notes that users currently spend more time conducting searches using AI Mode compared to traditional search methods.
AI Mode is also said to help users better understand topics compared to standard search. Given its high usage, Google now intends to generate revenue from the feature by integrating advertising support.
The advertising feature will be rolled out in phases; advertisers can already purchase ad slots to target users in Malaysia. In addition to Malaysia, this feature is also being introduced in India and Singapore.
