The Minister of Communications has stated that the government will evaluate the necessity of implementing identity verification—or eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer)—for accessing online gaming platforms, such as Roblox.
At present, the matter is still in its very early stages. Several factors will be taken into account before any implementation, including issues concerning underage users and the potential for such platforms to be misused. Previously, the Ministry also held discussions with Roblox last year, covering a range of topics.
It remains unclear whether this initiative will be extended to various other platforms or if it will focus specifically on platforms frequently accessed by children, like Roblox. Further updates on this matter may emerge in the coming months.
