Instagram has initiated testing for landscape-oriented videos lasting up to 90 minutes, in collaboration with several content creators in the United States. Dubbed "Instagram Features," this initiative aims to bolster podcast-style content on the platform, alongside other long-form video formats.
This new feature arrives just days after Instagram launched an app for Apple TV.
Through "Instagram Features," users can easily view a clip within Reels and then tap it to watch the full-length content—all without ever leaving the Instagram platform.
Instagram plans to expand testing of this feature to other countries in the coming months. This move signals Instagram’s intent to compete for viewership against various other platforms—such as YouTube, Netflix, Hotstar, and TikTok—many of which are also actively attracting podcasters to their respective ecosystems.
