Replacing an identity card (MyKad) has become more convenient through the MyGOV app on smartphones. This allows the public to submit applications without needing to visit a service counter in person, thereby saving time and streamlining the process. However, all applications remain fully subject to the terms and conditions established by the National Registration Department (NRD).
The process for replacing a MyKad via the MyGOV Malaysia app must follow the prescribed official procedures. Applicants are required to download the latest version of the MyGOV Malaysia app, log in to their registered account, select the "Birth & Identity" category (MyKad Replacement), and provide all necessary information, including the reason for the replacement. Furthermore, applicants must select a preferred NRD branch for card collection. If requested, supporting documents must be uploaded for verification purposes. Once all steps are completed, the application can be submitted for processing in accordance with the official guidelines set by the NRD.
This facility offers several advantages: it saves time by enabling online transactions, provides convenient access (subject to system availability), and consolidates various government services into a single application. The MyGOV app is available for download via the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
