Qualcomm is reportedly planning a global workforce reduction as part of an effort to cultivate a culture focused on high performance. The exact number of employees to be affected or laid off has not been disclosed. In its last public update, Qualcomm reported a workforce of approximately 52,000 employees.
Beyond boosting performance, the move is also aimed at improving the company’s standing, as it has frequently fallen short of its targets.
Previously, Qualcomm indicated that by the 2027 fiscal year, it expects revenue from its enterprise chip business to surpass that of its smartphone chip sales. This shift aligns with the growing demand for artificial intelligence and Qualcomm’s offerings for data centers.
