Micron has agreed to provide bonuses to its employees in Taiwan following the company’s recording of exceptional profits, driven by high global demand for memory products. Out of Micron’s 4,300 production-line employees in Taiwan, approximately 700 have received extraordinary bonuses equivalent to five years' worth of salary.
The bonus package consists of three main components: an annual performance bonus ranging from 7.5 to 12.5 months' salary; a mass-production bonus equivalent to 20% of the annual salary; and a one-time appreciation bonus of NT$1 million (~RM 125,000), adjusted based on the employee's length of service.
Micron also announced a quarterly profit-sharing bonus, set to begin in January 2027. Payouts will be structured as 50% cash and 50% stock, with the initial payment to be made entirely in cash.
Despite the substantial nature of these bonuses, the Micron labor union in Taoyuan remains dissatisfied. They are calling for a more transparent and clearly defined profit-sharing mechanism, with a large number of union members reportedly rejecting the company's offer.
