4 WhatsApp Security Features and How to Use Them

The WhatsApp messaging app has many features, such as GIFs, stickers, and animations that allow users to share messages creatively. The app created by Facebook is also supported by an end-to-end encryption system.

WhatsApp also has other security features besides end-to-end encryption technology. Here are the features and how to use them:

1. Two -step verification

Like Facebook’s social media services, Instagram, and email services, WhatsApp also comes with a two-step verification feature. This function adds an extra layer of protection by requiring users to enter a six -digit PIN when resetting and verifying their WhatsApp account.

This function helps prevent the user's WhatsApp account from being accessed if the SIM card is stolen or their phone number is compromised. How to use it, open the WhatsApp app, select Settings, tap Accounts, then Two -Step Verification, and Activate.

2. Touch ID or Face ID

WhatsApp also allows its users to add an extra layer of security with Touch ID and Face ID for the iPhone. Meanwhile, Android users can only use the fingerprint key.

Users can also decide whether they want WhatsApp to be locked automatically from the app immediately after closing the app, or after a variety of time options.

How to use it, open WhatsApp Settings only. Tap Account, select Privacy, then Lock Screen, and enable Touch ID or Face ID. After that select how long WhatsApp can be in standby mode before Touch ID or Face ID is required.

3. Group privacy settings

WhatsApp comes with special Group Privacy settings that allow users to control who can add them to WhatsApp groups. To use it, go to Settings, tap Accounts, Privacy, and select Groups, then choose one of three options: "Everyone", "My Contacts", or "Except My Contacts".

My Contacts means that only user contacts stored on the phone can add the group. Except My Contacts gives additional control over who among the user contacts can be added to the group.

4. Privacy profile

WhatsApp also allows users to control the details of what they share with others on their personal profiles, whether it’s everyone, just their contacts, or anyone. At any time, users can restrict Last Viewed, Profile Photo, About and Status in the WhatsApp privacy settings menu.
