Here's How to Use Voice and Video Calls on WhatsApp Desktop

 


Voice and video call features on the WhatsApp Desktop application are available. Here's how to use it.
To make voice and video calls on the WhatsApp Desktop app, make sure the device you’re using is running Windows 10 64-bit version 1903 or later, and macOS 10.13 and above.



In addition, to make or receive voice and video calls on WhatsApp Desktop requires:

Audio and microphone output devices for voice and video calls
Camera for video calls
Active Internet connection on computers and mobile phones. Calls will not be made over the phone. But your phone must be online to make a call
Give WhatsApp permission to access the computer's microphone and camera. WhatsApp requires access to your computer’s microphone for calls and a camera for video calls
How to make voice and video calls on WhatsApp Desktop

Open an individual chat with the contact you want to contact
Click the Voice or Video Call icon
During a call, you can mute or mute the voice by clicking the Microphone icon. You can also turn the video off or on by clicking the Camera icon
To end the call, click End call
Use a headset to get the best audio quality. Using an external microphone and a separate speaker device can cause an echo sound.


How to Answer a Voice or Video Call

If you receive an incoming call, you can click:



Accept to receive the call
Reject to reject the call
Ignore or press the x icon to ignore the call
How to Switch Between Voice Calls to Video Calls

When making a voice call with a contact, you can request to switch to a video call. Contacts who are making a voice call can choose to click OK or Switch to switch to the video call, or Cancel to decline. The step



Hover over the Camera icon during a call
Click the Camera icon
Voice calls will be diverted to video calls when the contact receives the divert
If you are having problems making or receiving calls on WhatsApp Desktop:



Make sure the computer and phone are connected to the internet and a strong connection
Update WhatsApp to the latest version available.
Make sure the device supports calls on WhatsApp Desktop. Calls on WhatsApp Desktop is available on Windows 10 64-bit versions 1903 and later and macOS 10.13 and later.
Make sure it has a microphone, camera and speakers.
Troubleshoot your microphone and speakers through computer sound settings.
Make sure you have given WhatsApp permission to access your microphone and camera.
