Thousands of PS4s at Crypto Mines Turn out to be Looking for Rare Items

Thousands of PS4 slime were seized in Ukraine as the country's police attacked crypto landmines. It turns out that during further research, the PS4 was not used to mine cryptocurrency.

In a previous report, the PS4 was accused of being used to mine cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, even though it lacks adequate computing capabilities compared to devices commonly used for mining.

However, in further research, the PS4 was used to find rare football players in FIFA games. Precisely the PS4 is used to collect money in games.

The money in the game is then used to buy Ultimate Team cards at FIFA to find rare players, which can then be sold at a high price. With so many consoles in use, the chances of getting a rare card are even greater.

In addition to 3800 PS4s, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) also seized 500 graphics cards, 50 processors, notebooks, mobile phones, and flash disks in the raid.

The cryptocurrency boom is being carried out by authorities in various countries. The latest news is from Malaysia, which has just attacked a crypto mine in Sarawak.

Evidence of the raid was then destroyed by being run over by a heavy vehicle. A total of 1,069 crypto mining tools such as Bitcoin and Ethereum were destroyed. The PC machine was seized in six raids conducted between February and April in 2021.

Cryptocurrency fares were raided for stealing electricity from Sarawak Energy Berhad. The value of the stolen electricity could not be measured, reaching USD 2 million. Crypto mining uses a lot of electricity, and has recently been criticized for damaging the environment due to excessive electricity consumption.
