82 -year -old female pilot joined Jeff Bezos to fly into space

Jeff Bezos will fly into space with New Shepard rocket on July 20. She will be accompanied by a special person on this flight, Wally Funk, a female pilot and a 60 -year flight pilot to fly into space.
Bezos called Funk as a honorable guest on this flight. At the age of 82, Funk will be the oldest to fly into space.

In 1961, the 21 -year -old Funk was one of the participants in the women's astronaut training program named Women In Space. The program is attended by 13 women collectively known as Mercury 13.

Funk passed all difficult physical and mental tests, just like other male astronauts in the NASA Space Program. But she and other female participants were not selected to become NASA astronauts because of their gender.

When NASA opened an astronaut for women in 1976, Funk tried to apply three times but was always rejected. All his life he had to wait for a call to fly into space.

"I never thought I would fly," Funk said in a video posted on the Blue Origin website.

Despite failing to become an astronaut, the funk still succeeded in a pioneer in the field of flight. She became the first female flight instructor at the US military base and the first woman to serve as air safety investigators at the National Transportation Safety Board.

His interest in exploring space is also impossible. Funk is one of the people who buy space travel tickets from Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson company competing with Blue Origin.

But for this flight with Blue Origin, funk doesn't have to spend. He will fly with Bezos and his brother Mark, as well as auction winners who have paid $ 28 million to join the flight.

This will be the first Berawak flight made by New Shepard rocket. These rockets will fly to a height of 100 km which is the border between the earth and space.

Bezos, Funk and other passengers will enjoy the scenery and feel the sensation of floating for a few minutes at the passenger capsule, before returning to the earth with a parachute.
