Instagram is reportedly trying to test a new feature to let users know about other apps they might want to visit.
Uniquely this notification seems to invite users to the Facebook app. This notification will appear in the form of a banner placed at the top of the Instagram app.
The content of the notification message will encourage Instagram users to check out features that are only available on Facebook. This method seems to invite users to actively use Facebook.
In one question, Facebook confirmed that the test was intended to tell Instagram users about Facebook-only features like online shopping, dating, job search, and more.
“We’re testing ways to tell people who have linked their Instagram accounts to Facebook about features that are only available there, such as how to find work, date online, buy and sell stuff, or follow the latest news,” a spokesperson said. Instagram in a statement.
The test was started on a small group of Instagram users who had previously linked their Facebook and Instagram accounts together.
It’s unclear if Facebook has plans to expand the feature, but these results will be based on user feedback test results so if the results are good Facebook will likely expand it
The Facebook move is one of the latest examples of cross -platform integration. Previously, Facebook had planned to combine WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger chats.
