Instagram Users Will Be Able to 'Like' Stories

Instagram is reportedly testing the like feature for Stories. Current Instagram users can like posts in the main feed or comments in it, but the same feature is not yet available for Stories.

Currently users can only respond to Stories using emojis in quick reactions or by leaving a message. As a result, any reactions or incoming messages will always appear in the DM inbox.

This test of the like feature in Instagram Stories was first discovered by developer Alessandro Paluzzi and reported by the WABetaInfo page. This feature is still in development and testing is done privately because it is still not accessible through the latest public beta.

The form of the like button on Instagram Stories can be seen through several Paluzzi posts on Twitter. This heart -shaped button will be placed right next to the column to leave a message, as quoted from Gadgets 360, Wednesday (25/8/2021).

The position is currently filled by a Share button that allows users to send Stories to other users. It is unknown whether this button will be removed or moved in the future.

As soon as this like button is clicked, a colorful animation will appear. Paluzzi said users can like Stories multiple times by clicking the like button repeatedly.

WABetaInfo says users who upload Instagram Stories will not receive messages if their posts get likes from other users. But it is possible that there will be a separate list that shows the likes that have been received.

WABetaInfo emphasizes that this feature is still in the development stage, so it is possible that the look of the final product will be different from the current one. When this feature will be released, it is not yet known, but there will definitely be more detailed information in the near future.

This isn’t the only big change Instagram has developed for Stories. Recently they announced that they will replace the swipe up link in Stories with a link sticker that will be available to all users.
