Google Founder Moves from Fiji to New Zealand, Why?

Google co-founder Larry Page was recently reportedly hiding in Fiji during the outbreak. Apparently he had just moved from Fiji to New Zealand.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, New Zealand’s borders were tightly closed, and Page managed to enter the country using a special visa. Page also follows in the footsteps of a series of U.S. millionaires who have moved to New Zealand.

Based on a report from Stuff, as quoted from Gizmodo, Saturday (7/8/2021) Page applied for a special visa on November 3, 2020. He then flew to New Zealand on January 11, 2021 after his son fell ill in Fiji.

Page appears to be applying for a special visa called Investor Plus that allows anyone to enter New Zealand as long as they invest $ 10 million. The visa was only approved on 4 February 2021, a month after Page entered New Zealand.

Surprisingly, the New Zealand government has rejected reports that Page has lived there. But the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment confirmed they had received a special Page visa.

Page and her sick son were reportedly flown from Fiji to Starship Children Hospital in New Zealand by air ambulance. But the New Zealand government did not respond when asked whether Page paid for transport costs or not.

The 48 -year -old entered quarantine as soon as he arrived in New Zealand, just like other visitors. But now Page is thought to have returned to Fiji.

On the $ 10 million investment, Page is reportedly interested in investing in a flying taxi company, Wisk Aviation. The company is headquartered in the US but has an office in New Zealand and plans to test vehicles there.

Page became interested in Wisk after getting involved with Kitty Hawk, the airline he also owned. Wisk is a joint venture between Boeing and Kitty Hawk.

Page is the umpteenth US millionaire to choose to move to New Zealand. Previously the founder of Paypal, Peter Thiel has been a New Zealand citizen since 2017.

This millionaire chose New Zealand because it is said to be the safest place in the event of a disaster on Earth, because it has a small population, renewable energy, and a large supply of clean water.

New Zealand is also one of the countries less affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. The country with a population of 5 million people recorded 2,880 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the epidemic to date, with 26 deaths.
