PS5 New Model Hotter Than Original Version, Maybe This Is The Cause

A Youtuber named Austin Evans, revealed that the new PS5 model is hotter. The cause is known, because the heat sink embedded in this device is different from the initial version.

There seems to be a gamble made by Sony. The weight of the latest version is 300 grams lighter, however, they have to sacrifice one of the devices, namely the cooling system.

Then the heat sink inside also contains less copper, which is likely due to COVID-19 and causing metal prices to rise. Evans has also tested its temperature test, where it was revealed that the new model runs 3 degrees Celsius hotter.

In a video uploaded on his personal Youtube channel, Evans dissects all of Sony's devices. It tests various things, not only temperature, but also power output.

Until finally, found that there is a significant difference in the heat sink. On the latest PS5, more or less only get half the components of the original version.

When aligned, some of the parts look different, starting from the layout and size presented. Even after being weighed, the weight for the original version is 1,639 grams and the new model is 1,368 grams.

He and his friends also said, maybe that was what made him hotter. However, the resulting sound is quieter and less noisy.

Evans added, even though the temperature increase was not too drastic, in terms of cooling, he would still prefer the original PS5 console over the new.

In fact, fans have been asking for the new console to be lighter, since before its launch and it materialized. Reportedly also have visited stores in Japan and Australia.

The original PS5 weighs 3.9 kg. While the new version is slightly lighter, which is 3.6 kg.
