Spongebob and Patrick Real World Found Roaming the Sea

The characters Spongebob the sponge creature and Patrick the starfish are not just fiction. Both of these beings do exist in nature. Ironically, these two creatures were found side by side “hanging out” in the sea.
Marine biologist and invertebrate researcher Christopher Mah published his findings. This post becomes interesting and funny because Ma calls him the real Spongebob and Patrick in the real world.

* laughs * I usually avoid this reference..but WOW. REAL LIFE Sponge bob and Patrick! #Okayanos Retreiver seamount 1885m pic.twitter.com/fffKNKMFjP

Quoted from IFL Science, Monday (2/8/2021) Mah said he discovered sponges and starfish side by side during an ocean expedition around the Seamount Retriever. According to him, they were found at an altitude of 1,885 meters above sea level. Scientifically, these two creatures are named Hertwigia (bright yellow sponge) and Chondraster (starfish).

His followers were busy commenting on his unique post. One netizen even secretly edited it by adding eyes to the sponge and starfish so that they really resembled Spongebob and Patrick.

It should be noted, the Seamount Retriever where ‘Spongebob and Patrick’ was found is located in a collection of extinct volcanoes known as the New England Seamounts. The region is found off the coast of Massachusetts and stretches for more than 1,100 kilometers.

The mountain is far from the sea floor and forms a rich marine life biota. The area has been extensively mapped by the NOAAS Okeanos Explorer, a Navy ship used for ocean exploration.
