Elon Musk Sprays Jeff Bezos: Lawsuits NASA Can't Get You to the Moon

Elon Musk is not happy to see Jeff Bezos and Blue Origin suing NASA and trying to stop development of the SpaceX space project. The SpaceX and Tesla boss has a special message for Bezos and Blue Origin.

"He's got to put in a lot more effort to get into orbit than to file a lawsuit," Musk said in an interview with Kara Swisher at the Code Conference, as quoted by Cnet, Wednesday (29/9/2021).

"Lawsuits can't get you to the Moon, no matter how good a lawyer you are," he continued.

As is known, in April NASA chose SpaceX to provide a vehicle that will take astronauts to the Moon in 2024 as part of the Artemis mission. SpaceX beat out two other companies that are bidding for this project, Blue Origin and Dynetics.

NASA initially planned to choose two companies, but due to limited funds, it ended up choosing only one company. Feeling NASA's decision was unfair, Blue Origin, which is a company owned by Bezos, then filed a complaint in federal court.

In addition to commenting on the lawsuit filed by Bezos and Blue Origin, Musk also insinuated that their space journey only reached suborbital altitude.

In July, Bezos and Blue Origin launched into space for the first time. The two of them followed in the footsteps of Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic who had flown first.

Suborbital flights are considered less prestigious because they don't actually reach outer space, only reaching an altitude of about 100 km. Unlike SpaceX, which recently succeeded in bringing four amateur astronauts to an altitude of 575 km.

“A suborbital is a step into orbit,” Musk said followed by laughter from the audience.

"But doing something in space is a good thing. I think it's pretty cool to see them spend money on space advancement developments," he added.
