Galaxy S22 Will Be Samsung's Smallest Flagship Phone

Samsung is predicted to launch the Galaxy S22 in the near future. Rumors circulated that the Galaxy S22 would bring a number of improvements, but it turns out that there are some features that will be lowered.

Based on a leak from tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S22 is rumored to have a 6.06-inch screen. This screen size is smaller than the Galaxy S21 which is 6.2 inches.

If these rumors are true, then the Galaxy S22 will be Samsung's smallest flagship phone since the presence of the Galaxy S10e in 2019. Ice Universe also says the Galaxy S22 will have dimensions equivalent to the iPhone 13.

"The length, width and thickness are slightly smaller than the iPhone 13," said Ice Universe in a tweet on Twitter, as quoted from 9to5Google, Monday (20/9/2021).

The small dimensions also have an impact on the internal components. Ice Universe says the battery capacity of the Galaxy S22 will also be made smaller at 3,700 mAh. For comparison, the battery capacity of the Galaxy S21 is 4,000 mAh.

In a separate tweet, Ice Universe also revealed the Galaxy S22 battery will be supported by 25W fast charging. Interestingly, the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra variants will be equipped with 45W fast charging, so the difference from the standard variant is quite far.

If rumors about the dimensions of the Galaxy S22 are true, then it is likely that the screen size of the Galaxy S22+ will also be made smaller than the Galaxy S21+ which has a 6.7-inch panel.

This strategy was probably taken to clarify the differences between the Galaxy S22+ and the Galaxy S22 Ultra as many consider the size of the Galaxy S21+ to be too similar to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. But until now there has been no leak about the screen size of the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Currently not much information is known about the Galaxy S22 line. Previous rumors suggested that the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ variants would have a 50 MP camera, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra variant would be the first Samsung phone to sport a 200 MP camera.

All three will be powered by the Snapdragon 898 or Exynos 2200 chipset, depending on the country. Samsung is also developing a custom GPU with AMD which is predicted to launch with the Galaxy S22.
