Spooky! Hearing "Ghost" Sounds on Google Maps Scares Users

A number of Google Maps users reported a mysterious sound when they used the digital map service. It is not known where the sound came from, the users were suddenly frightened.

This complaint was submitted by Google Maps users via Twitter and Reddit forums. They said a man's voice with an Indian accent could be heard clearly from the app.

A Reddit user with the account name u/couverando1984 explained what happened to him. He mentioned, usually the Google Maps application uses an English-speaking female voice.

"On the way home, at first Google Maps had a female voice as usual. Then suddenly Google Maps gave one instruction and her voice changed to male. Her voice sounded deep and had Indian access. This does sound weird, but has anyone experienced it too?," he wrote.

Other users reported similar things. Some say the navigation voice alternates between a female voice and a male voice with an Indian accent during use. Many of them said they were shocked and frightened, especially when the sound was heard at night.

According to them, the strange "ghost" sound was heard on both iOS and Android phones. Allegedly, this is due to a bug in the Google Maps application on Android and iOS in some countries that use English.

In response to this report, the official Google Maps Twitter account replied to one of the user's tweets. "Hi, we apologize for what you experienced. Our team is working on a fix and it will be released soon. Thank you for your patience," he wrote.
