Apple launched the cleaning cloth for $19 in conjunction with the launch of the MacBook Pro and AirPods 3 last week. The launch of this overpriced rag was scorned by many, including Elon Musk.
Unmitigated, Musk even quipped directly at Apple CEO Tim Cook about Apple's rags via Twitter. Cook initially tweeted about the opening of a new Apple Store in Istanbul, Turkey.
"Introducing Apple BaÄŸdat Caddesi, our beautiful new store in Istanbul. We are delighted to be part of this dynamic community and we can't wait to welcome customers to this spectacular new place," Cook tweeted, as quoted by iMore, Monday (25/25/2020). 10/2021).
Not long after, Musk, who is active on Twitter, immediately responded to Cook's tweet. "Come and see the Apple Cloth TM," Musk tweeted.
Musk's reply received various responses from netizens. Some support him mocking Apple, some think Musk is not suitable to criticize Apple because his company also often issues gimmicks.
Apple quietly started selling the Apple Polishing Cloth last week. In the description on its official website, Apple says this washcloth is made of a smooth and non-abrasive material.
This iPhone manufacturer claims the cleaning cloth can be used to clean all Apple devices that have a screen, including nano-texture glass, safely and effectively.
Interestingly, this duster sales page also has a Compatibility section which lists compatible devices. It's no surprise that almost all current Apple devices, from the seventh-generation iPod touch to the 2021 MacBook Pro, can be cleaned with this cloth.
Although ridiculed for their unreasonable price, these washcloths are apparently quite popular. Currently the official Apple website says consumers who order Apple Polishing Cloth now, the new product will be delivered in January 2022.
