Hurray! Netflix Sets Up In-App Games At No Extra Cost

The online streaming platform, Netflix, is expanding its wings into the gaming industry. They confirmed that they would add the game to their service, without charging customers any additional fees.

This is as stated in the shareholders' letter, that they are in the early stages of expanding the industry. Video games are another new content Netflix brings, similar to its expansion to original films, animation and unscripted TV.

"Games will be included in Netflix membership subscriptions at no additional cost. This is in line with movies and series on the platform," Netflix wrote.

Meanwhile, currently the upcoming game can only be played on mobile devices. It is not yet known what the future will be, regarding other platforms.

Previously it had been circulating that they were doing a big expansion, entering the grand stage of video games. Netflix has also appointed former Electronic Arts (EA) and Facebook executive Mike Verdu as VP of development.

Verdu is known to have worked as a person who worked with developers and brought games for Oculus VR headsets. Although it is not yet known how it will be, they provide a gaming experience for customers.

Even so, Netflix itself is not a new player in this industry. Given the online streaming service, has launched a game from the popular film series, Stranger Things.

Thanks to an epic touch from developer BonusXP, Stranger Things is presented in 8-bit mobile form. Therefore, the game looks like a retro game in general. Plus this series tells the adventures of a group of teenagers in the 80s.

The game mechanics that are presented are also varied, ranging from puzzles or speed runs. Then gamers can also share achievements in the game to social media.
