This is Xperia Pro-I, 'The Camera' HP from Sony

Sony is showing off its newest phone called Xperia Pro-I, which is a phone whose camera uses a 1-inch sensor.

This 1 inch sensor is 'borrowed' from the RX100 VII, a premium compact camera line that often gets the best compact cameras. Sony itself claims that the Xperia Pro-I is a 'camera phone', and internally they call it 'The Camera'.

In Sony's mobile portfolio, this phone even has a unique position. That is above their standard flagship phone, the Xperia 1. Even the Xperia Pro-I is not a direct successor of the Xperia Pro, even though it carries a similar name.

But Xperia Pro is indeed a different position, because it is intended for live streamers with its unique HDMI port. While the Xperia Pro-I is more directed to a complete package for photographers and videographers.

Of course, because of the use of a 1-inch Exmor RS sensor equipped with phase detection autofocus, and paired with a Zeiss Tessar Optics 24mm lens with an aperture of f/2.0/f4.0.

This 1 inch sensor has a very large pixel, which is 2.4 microns. The sensor also supports 12bit RAW and 315 point phase detection autofocus that covers 90% of the screen.

In addition to the main camera, Xperia Pro-I also has three other cameras, each of which has a resolution of 12MP. Namely a camera with a 16mm ultrawide lens, 50mm telephoto, and also an iToF 3D sensor to help with autofocus.

Then there are also other features that were previously available on the Xperia 1 III, such as realtime Eye-AF for humans and animals, 20fps burst mode AF/AE, which can be obtained thanks to the BIONZ X image processor.

As a cellphone, the Xperia Pro-I also has qualified specifications. The body is not very thick even though the camera sensor is large. It is only 8.9 mm thick, and is coated with Gorilla Galss Victus.

The 6.5-inch OLED screen has 4K HDR resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The brain is Snapdragon 888 with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. If that's not enough, there's still a micro SD slot to add up to 1TB of storage. Oh yes, the 3.5mm audio port is also still on this phone.

Regarding the battery, the capacity is 4,500 mAh and can be recharged from empty to 50% in 30 minutes via a 30W charger. This IP68 standard cellphone also has special vlog accessories, namely the Vlog Monitor which is a 3.5-inch HD screen that is connected via cable and mounted on the back of the cellphone.

The new Xperia Pro-I goes on sale in early December 2021 for around 1,800 euros.
