The new MacBook Pro Duo released by Apple is indeed more expensive than the MacBook Air and Pro which use the M1 chip, and the price with the highest specification reaches USD 6,099.
Both the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 do have significant updates compared to the previous MacBook M1, such as a faster chip, high refresh rate on the screen, complete ports, and more.
But the price is not cheap. For example, the MacBook Pro 14 starts at $1,999 and the 16-inch version starts at $2,499. The basic price is already higher than the MacBook Air and Pro version of the M1.
The price will soar if the RAM and storage capacity is increased to the maximum. For example, if the selected RAM option is 64GB unified memory with 8TB storage, a 140W charger, and an M1 Max chip, the price will jump to USD 6,099.
Of course this is just the price of the device. For the software, Apple recommends Final Cut Pro which costs USD 299 and Logic Pro which costs USD 199 on the checkout page on Apple's website. If this software is calculated, the total price is almost USD 6,600.
Through these two MacBook Pros, Apple seems to answer the complaints of previous MacBook Pro users, because they provide features that were previously omitted.
For example, an SD card reader and an HDMI port, then Apple is also back using the MagSafe charger for this new MacBook Pro, although it still supports charging via the USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 port.
In addition, there is an interesting improvement on the screen, namely using a mini LED panel called Liquid Retina XDR. In addition to using a mini LED to increase the contrast level, this screen also has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
Of course, there is also an increase in the chips used, namely the M1 Pro and Max, which have significantly improved performance -- according to Apple's claims -- compared to the first generation M1.
