The Mystery of Strange Sounds from Mountains in China

A broadcast appeared showing a video with a strange sound that was claimed to have come from a mountain in China. Was the so-called 'dragon's roar' true?

Actually this is an old video, which was originally circulated in 2020. But until now there are still those who receive chain messages containing the video.

As the video plays, strange noises are heard and it shows large crowds of people huddled along the hilly terrain. It went viral on social media with claims that the terrifying sound resembled a 'dragon's roar' and was heard in Guizhou Province, China.

A voice in the background narrates the incident and warns of impending disaster and then blames the Chinese Communist Party for its 'sins'.

Facebook user 'Afjal Khan' shared the three minute video and wrote a lengthy caption, some of which read, "Thousands of people in China flock to hunt 'mysterious creature' after hearing 'dragon growling' from the mountains".

The same video was also posted by a YouTube channel called Tiên Nguyên TV with the title 'Super scary sound emanating from a mountain in GuiZhou, China for more than 10 days' reads the title of the video.

From his upload, Tiên Nguyên TV gave a narration that experts had carried out an investigation but no one knew about this yet.

In fact, after an India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) search, this information is a misinformation. Mysterious voices heard from a mountain in the area did exist, but the video with the strange noises was heavily edited. Then, actually the strange sound was the sound of a bird singing.

After the video went viral on social media, Guizhou wildlife management station director Ran Jingcheng and his team were dispatched to investigate the mysterious voices. In the end, they found the source of the sound from the quail.

"It's barely bigger than a sparrow and has a disproportionate pitch," the experts quoted The Science Times as saying.
