The Story Behind the Man Who Released 3,019 Bitcoins for Online Game Vouchers

Bitcoin prices are going crazy lately. So it's not surprising that the story of the man who released his 3,019 BTC with a Gemscool game voucher went viral immediately.

This is Muhamad Usep (23) from Gunung Putri, Bogor who works as an Android developer. To us, he said he was provoked to tell the story when many people used to own large amounts of Bitcoin and regret selling it.

"Because I felt quite uneasy because so many people made these posts, I finally looked for old posts, then I published them in a Facebook group that discussed Cryptocurrency, in the hope that they would not be too disappointed that they had sold or missed Bitcoin," said Usep. .

"However, after I posted it in the group, unexpectedly there were many responses, both pro and contra, until finally it was reposted on many social media accounts," he continued.

Back to the moment when Usep bought Bitcoin, namely April 2010 where the price of 1 BTC was still around USD 0.003.

"With the exchange rate, of course, it is enough to be exchanged for game vouchers," he said.

According to Usep, psychologically, when a certain amount of BTC has been collected, there is a tendency to sell, especially at that time getting BTC is practically very easy. There are even sites that provide 10 BTC for people who register on the site or also by doing referrals with rewards for getting BTC.

"Especially at the beginning of 2011, BTC reached a price of $1, of course those who hold a lot of BTC will sell it, because thinking, 'when else can they sell BTC at this price' it is impossible to think about saving up to 10 years, especially at that time, very little people who know BTC, so they only consider a transaction tool without fundamentals," he said.

Regarding people who believe or not with his story, he admits that he will not invite people to believe. Let people want to believe it or not, said Usep not a problem for him. But there is a message that he left to netizens.

"Hopefully the viral post will educate others to get to know cryptocurrencies, because at this time, crypto is an investment vehicle that can provide high returns in a short time, but also has considerable risks," he said.
