Established Health Lab, Huawei Wants to Develop Wearable Devices

Huawei officially opened its largest Huawei Health Lab in China. This facility is Huawei's support effort to develop health and fitness wearables.

Huawei Health Lab is located in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, China with an area of 4,680 m2. This lab is Huawei's largest investment of 200 million yuan  to support research and development of wearable devices.

The lab will support up to 80 types of simulation tests covering areas such as professional research, ecosystem development, and health and wellness incubation.

The facility will also house Huawei's key R&D team that conducts cutting-edge research on human health and wellness as Huawei's smart wearable products are developed.

Huawei said it added much needed capacity and potential to Huawei's existing lab in Xi'an, China that focuses on innovative applications for health and wellness.

In a statement issued by Huawei, it said that the new Huawei Health Lab aims to become a world-class health and wellness technology institute dedicated to industrial products, standards, certifications and incubation activities.

The state-of-the-art Huawei Health Lab facilities will support research and development of new technologies that can be used for more extensive and robust health monitoring.

The high-altitude blood oxygen simulation laboratory within the new facility is able to replicate the high-altitude environment to provide groundbreaking tests on oxygen saturation levels and their impact on bodily functions.

Flagship

Huawei Health Lab has all the necessary facilities to observe and measure body changes at different altitudes under different climatic conditions. The quantum of data generated from the labs is bound to drive research and development of cutting-edge wearables that Huawei says are essential for health and wellness monitoring.

In addition, the health and wellness incubation area at the facility allows simulation of all scenarios of healthcare experiences and services, including microphysical examinations, digital exercise, and home fitness.

Huawei hopes that the massive investment in Health Lab will drive the development of innovative wearables that are increasingly becoming essential health gadgets for all segments of the population.
