Gojek Targets 100% Electric Motorcycles in 2030, What's the Fate of Drivers?

Gojek targets 100% electric motorcycles by 2030 for driver partners. What is the fate of drivers who still have conventional motorbikes or still use fuel? It turns out that Gojek has thought about this carefully, so there is a solution provided by Gojek for driver partners.

"We've asked a number of driver partners and actually their enthusiasm is very big. We're likely to give credit, because if it's only rented out, the question will be where the money goes? Why can't it be an asset?" said Kevin Aluwi, CEO of Gojek at the inauguration of the Gojek x TBS Energi Utama collaboration, Thursday (11/18/2021).

That way, later the scheme offered by Gojek is an installment system so that even drivers can own the electric motorbike. In collaboration with TBS Energi Utama, Gojek and TBS strive to build an ecosystem that encourages the use of electric motors. From charging, replacing batteries to manufacturing, Gojek and TBS will try to collaborate with the private sector and the government

"Today we are collaborating with TBS under the name Elektrum. Starting this month there will be 5,000 motor units, not charging but the battery can be replaced so that it is faster. We want it to be more accessible for the public and can reduce pollution. For users, the benefits of this motorbike are minimal and smooth, especially users play a role in helping the zero emission mission," he added.

Gojek is very serious about adopting electric vehicles for all services, especially GoFood, GoRide, to the GoSend package delivery service. This collaboration is seen as an effort to add more options for the use of electric motors.

In COP26, Indonesia represented by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is committed to reducing CO2 emissions by 29% in 2050 and reaching net zero at 26%. Because Indonesia is starting to start more recently than other countries, it is still our collective duty to do homework to catch up.
