New York Mayor Wants To Be Paid With Bitcoin

Eric Adams is the new mayor of New York. He is a supporter of cryptocurrencies and even wants his first three months as mayor to be paid in Bitcoin only.

Apparently there is another mission behind this, namely Eric wants to make New York the center of the cryptocurrency industry. He wants to compete with the city of Miami, which is currently a favorite of crypto industry players in Uncle Sam's country.

"This New York City will be the epicenter of the cryptocurrency industry," he wrote on Twitter.

The salary in Bitcoin seems to be because he wants to compete with the mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez. Suarez stated he would be paid one hundred percent in Bitcoin alone.

Since being elected as mayor, Eric and Suarez have been involved in a war of words in order to make each other's city the 'capital' of crypto currency. Suarez himself has proven to be good at attracting crypto businessmen to Miami.

Many startups, capital and cryptocurrency exchange firms are moving to Miami or opening new offices there. In February, Suarez announced that Miami plans to accept tax payments in Bitcoin and allow employees to be paid with the cryptocurrency.

Earlier this year, the biggest Bitcoin 2021 crypto conference was also held in Miami and was attended by a large number of crypto enthusiasts. So, of course, Eric must try hard so that New York can compete with Miami.

After many miners and crypto businesses left China due to a massive raid, many of them chose to move to the United States. This is what was captured as a business opportunity for the government in several cities of Uncle Sam's country.
